What can businesses do to help with deforestation?

Timber has been widely used as a construction material in window frames and doors for many years. Cutting down trees to create a supply of timber is becoming a problem as one third of all Carbon Dioxide released from burning fossil fuels is absorbed by forests every year. Forests regulate ecosystems, protect biodiversity, support livelihoods, and play an important part in taking carbon dioxide out of our atmosphere. Deforestation is a corporate responsibility.

uPVC is a sustainable solution as an alternative to using timber. uPVC windows and doors can be manufactured with a woodgrain effect to closely resemble a timber window and they are available in a wide range of colours and do not need to be painted to maintain their perfect finish, unlike timber. Whilst many homeowners initially consider having timber windows or doors, once they become aware of the regular maintenance required to keep them looking good and performing well, they are often put off.  Timber windows can often twist and warp in the hot or wet weather, making them difficult to open and close at times. Recycling to reduce carbon footprint

The majority of uPVC profile we use to create an arched, angled, circular or gothic shaped window or door frame are made from recycled materials and at the end of its life as a window or door, the recycling process allows the same product to be recycled up to 10 times.  One single window or door can effectively have a life span of up to 350 years, which will help combat climate change.

During our manufacturing process, the off-cuts of uPVC which cannot be used are collected by a local company, who then recycles the material to give the plastic a new lease of life.  From time to time we also have offcuts of metal which are collected and re-used.

Our Administrative team are conscious of the need to protect the environment and ensure that all plastic waste, tins and wastepaper are cleaned and stored in preparation for recycling. One of the members of our team is passionate about recycling and voluntarily collects these items and takes them to the local recycling facilities every week.
