Gothic Windows

Gothic architecture is generally recognised as having three main features; the pointed arch, the rib vault and the flying buttress. They were traditionally created from a stone slab in the middle of the 12th Century, but thanks to modern technology, Gothic windows today can be manufactured from uPVC.

Who can make a Gothic Window?

Using Precision Engineering, Universal Arches manufactures Gothic Window frames. Every Gothic Window frame is made to bespoke dimensions, with a wide range of colours and finishes. By using CAD drawings to create a precise template, and with years of experience in manufacturing Gothic frames, our fabricators programme our state-of-the art machinery to cut intricate points at the head of the window, one of the renowned features of gothic architecture.

uPVC Gothic windows offer the same level of thermal efficiency as a square or rectangular window, whilst adding charm and character to your home or project. Thanks to modern day machinery, at Universal Arches, we are able to closely replicate the historic tracery stonework elements traditionally used.  Our qualified fabricators take great pride in producing shaped windows with intricate design features.

Universal Arches is one of a few uPVC Profile Bending companies to hold the ISO 9001:2015 Certificate and we continually look at ways to improve the bending of window and door frames.

Making a template for shaped windows

When it comes to supplying Universal Arches with a template, all we require is the shape of the Gothic Frame drawn to scale on Paper or MDF. Further information about templates for unusually shaped windows can be found here

Are uPVC windows environmentally friendly?

The majority of uPVC profile we use to create a gothic windows are made from recycled materials and at the end of its life as a window, the recycling process allows the same product to be recycled up to 10 times.  One single window can effectively have a life span of up to 350 years which will help combat climate change.

During our manufacturing process, the off-cuts of uPVC which cannot be used are collected by a local company, who then recycles the material to give the plastic a new lease of life.  From time to time we also have offcuts of metal which are collected and re-used.

For deliveries within 50 miles of our manufacturing facility in St Helens, we can supply bespoke Gothic shaped double glazed units.  For deliveries outside of that area we can supply glass sizes for you to source your own glazing.
